For two years Leise recorded the view of the sky over the Kent coast capturing the natural rhythms of time and light across the seasons. From the same window overlooking the sea she completed two paintings documenting the time and height of both tides. Time and tide become part of our daily life living by one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world. More than 500 ships a day pass through this channel and all are dependent on time and tides.
By her obsessive documentation of these moments Wilson encourages the viewer to slow down and observe the sky, light, time, and the changing of the seasons. There are a total of 730 days and 1460 individual paintings.
